The Canon EOS-1D X Mark III is Canon's magnum opus in DSLR photography — the camera that arrived in 2020 as Canon was simultaneously launching the RF mount, and proved that the optical viewfinder DSLR still had more to offer. The 1D X III delivers 16fps mechanical burst and 20fps in live view, 5.5K RAW internal video (a first for a Canon DSLR), dual CFexpress Type B slots, and a Dual Pixel CMOS AF system that extends 525 points across the frame in live view and video mode. The optical viewfinder AF covers 191 cross-type points — the most in any Canon DSLR. The 20.1MP full-frame sensor is tuned for dynamic range and low-light performance rather than resolution, with an extended ISO ceiling of 819,200. This is the camera Canon's professional photographers used at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. It is almost certainly the last camera of its kind Canon will make.
