Sony SLT-A99

Sony's 2012 full-frame flagship for the A-mount: a 24 MP sensor behind a translucent mirror, so autofocus never stops for the viewfinder or video, with a sharp OLED EVF, a three-way articulating screen, dual card slots and 4.5-stop in-body stabilisation, so every A-mount lens is stabilised.

📝 How suitability scores are calculated GearScore™ genre scores are calculated from this camera's verified specifications — autofocus, sensor, weight, weather sealing and more — weighted by what matters for each type of photography. Where a spec sheet misses something (e.g. a manual-focus rangefinder for street), we apply a documented editorial adjustment. Scores are not based on customer reviews. See our full methodology →
