Sony RX100 III

The RX100 III (2014) added the two things the first models lacked: a pop-up OLED viewfinder and a 180° flip-up screen, plus a brighter 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 Zeiss lens with a built-in ND filter. A 20 MP 1-inch sensor, 1080p video; a good, small travel camera even now.

📝 How suitability scores are calculated GearScore™ genre scores are calculated from this camera's verified specifications — autofocus, sensor, weight, weather sealing and more — weighted by what matters for each type of photography. Where a spec sheet misses something (e.g. a manual-focus rangefinder for street), we apply a documented editorial adjustment. Scores are not based on customer reviews. See our full methodology →
