Canon EOS R6

The EOS R6 was Canon's first full-frame mirrorless to truly nail autofocus, stabilisation and video in one package. The 20.1MP sensor is optimised for speed and low light rather than resolution. Its successor the R6 Mark II improved the AF further and raised the sensor to 24MP.

GearFrame's Take

Great For
🏅
Sports & Action 20fps burst with Dual Pixel AF and subject tracking — one of the fastest full-frame cameras available.
💍
Wedding & Events Reliable AF, weather sealing, and dual card slots make it a trustworthy wedding workhorse.
👤
Portrait Eye AF and full-frame rendering produce flattering, sharp portraits in any light.
🎬
Vlogging & Video 4K/60p with IBIS and a fully articulating screen — capable but the R6 Mark II improves on it.
⚠️ Not Ideal For
🏔️
Landscape 20MP is modest for large prints or heavy cropping. The R5 or R5C are better suited for landscape resolution.
