Fujifilm X-T1

The Fujifilm X-T1 was the camera that rebuilt Fujifilm's reputation in the digital age. With a weather-sealed magnesium body, the largest EVF of any APS-C camera at the time (0.77× magnification), physical dials for shutter speed and exposure compensation, and the 16.3MP X-Trans II sensor with outstanding JPEG rendering, the X-T1 gave photographers everything they had wanted from a compact system. It was freeze-resistant to -10°C, fast to handle, and produced files with a character that earned Fujifilm a loyal following that persists to this day.

GearFrame's Take

The camera that put Fujifilm back on the map — weather sealed, a class-leading EVF, physical dials, and X-Trans colour that earned a generation of loyal fans.

Great For
🏙️
Street Physical dials, a compact body, and weather sealing make it a natural street camera.
✈️
Travel Compact, weather sealed, and excellent JPEG output straight from camera for travel work.
👤
Portrait X-Trans colour science and face detection produce pleasing portrait results.
🏔️
Landscape Weather sealed and freeze resistant. 16MP is modest but X-Trans handles fine detail well.
⚠️ Not Ideal For
🎬
Vlogging & Video No 4K, no IBIS, and a non-touch tilting screen make this a poor video choice by modern standards.
🦅
Wildlife AF performance and 16MP resolution limit wildlife and telephoto use compared to modern alternatives.
