Match the charger to your battery model, not just your camera brand — a Canon LP-E6NH charger will not take an LP-E17, for example, and we list the exact batteries each charger fits. Many recent cameras charge in the body over USB-C, but a separate charger lets you keep shooting while spares charge, and a dual charger fills two packs at once overnight. USB-C chargers are the most flexible for travel because they run from a laptop charger, power bank or car socket rather than a mains plug. Maker chargers are the safest choice and some read the battery's remaining health; reputable third-party chargers from Hähnel, Mathorn and SmallRig cost less and often add a charge display.
Can I use a third-party charger with original batteries?
Yes — a good-quality charger built for your battery model charges original packs safely. Stick to established brands with proper over-charge and temperature protection, and avoid unbranded chargers with no safety markings.
Do I need a charger if my camera charges over USB-C?
Not strictly, but in-camera charging ties up the body and only charges one battery at a time. If you carry spares, an external or dual charger lets you charge them while you shoot and is usually faster.
