Try adjusting your filters
Start with a good rubber air blower — it is the safest first step for both lenses and sensors and solves most dust problems without touching anything. Add a lens pen or microfibre cloth and lens fluid for fingerprints and smears on the front element and filters. For dust the blower will not shift from the sensor, use a sensor brush for loose particles and wet sensor swabs for stuck marks, and buy swabs sized to your sensor: full-frame, APS-C (1.5–1.6× crop) and Micro Four Thirds swabs are different widths. Never use canned air on a sensor — the propellant can leave residue.
Is it safe to clean my camera sensor myself?
Yes, if you are careful. Use the camera's sensor-cleaning mode, start with a blower, and only move to a brush or wet swab if dust remains — one gentle pass per swab. On a mirrorless camera you are cleaning a filter in front of the sensor, not the sensor itself. If you are unsure, a camera shop can do it for you.
How do I check if my sensor is dirty?
Photograph a plain bright sky or white wall at f/16 or f/22, then view the image at full size. Dust shows as soft dark spots that appear in the same place on every frame.
