A three-axis gimbal smooths walking, running and tracking shots far beyond what in-body stabilisation can manage. Browse handheld gimbals for mirrorless cameras from DJI, Zhiyun and Hohem, with payload ratings and UK prices compared.

Payload is the number that matters most: add up your camera body, heaviest lens, battery, card and anything you mount on top (microphone, monitor), and choose a gimbal rated comfortably above that total — a gimbal working near its limit drains faster and balances poorly. Compact gimbals such as the DJI RS 4 Mini suit small mirrorless bodies with light primes; full-size models like the DJI RS 4 and RS 4 Pro handle full-frame bodies with zooms. Also check the gimbal's own weight (you will be holding it for hours), battery life, whether it can switch to portrait orientation for social video, and whether it can control your camera's shutter and focus over a cable or Bluetooth.
Do I need a gimbal if my camera has IBIS?
In-body stabilisation handles small hand shake well, and with digital stabilisation it is enough for slow, careful handheld clips. For walking shots, running, or smooth moves around a subject, a gimbal gives noticeably steadier footage without the crop of electronic stabilisation.
How do I balance a gimbal?
Mount the camera with everything attached — lens cap off, card and battery in — then slide each axis (tilt, roll, pan) until the camera stays put when you let go at any angle. Rebalance whenever you change lens. A balanced gimbal runs longer and holds steadier.
